The UK is prepared to move forward with utilizing the full worth of seized Russian holdings to support Ukraine's war effort, Prime Minister Sir Keir Starmer has announced.

In a joint statement, the officials of the UK, France, and the Federal Republic of Germany asserted that this coordinated action would escalate tension on Russian President Vladimir Putin and urge the Russian Federation to engage in negotiations.

They added that the move would be implemented in tight collaboration with the US.

British restrictions have frozen more than £25bn of Russia's funds since Russia launched its comprehensive attack against the Ukrainian nation in 2022. But, previously, money sent to Ukraine using Russian assets had exclusively been sourced from profits and interest accrued on them.

Sir Keir informed Ukraine's leader Volodymyr Zelensky that the Britain, France, and Germany were united in their aim to drive progress toward employing the total worth of the immobilized Moscow's national assets to halt hostilities.

He noted that additional measures soon would increase the strain on Moscow.

This statement follows European Union leaders convened in Copenhagen previously to discuss using seized Russian assets for a €140bn credit to the Ukrainian nation.

Recently, American leader Donald Trump urged G7 allies to confiscate or employ immobilized Russian assets, based on reports.

The worth of frozen Russia's funds in the EU is estimated to be almost €211bn.

Moscow executed extensive aerial attacks all over Ukraine on Friday, leading to blackouts in large parts of the capital city, Kyiv, and eight other regions.

Several persons were lost their lives and a minimum of 20 people were injured in the attack, authorities in Ukraine stated.

In a message on X following the attack, Zelensky wrote that the premeditated assault aimed at public and utility structures.

"The necessity is not just talk but decisive action - from the America, EU, and the Group of Seven - in supplying defense mechanisms and implementing restrictions," he emphasized.

"Each restrictive measure diminishes Russia's war machine," Zelensky noted, in a different message.

In the same period, Zelensky informed reporters he would encourage Sir Keir to join the PURL scheme, under which partner nations purchase weapons from the United States to donate to Ukraine.

While applauding the Britain's firm backing for Kyiv, he said it should demonstrate clearly that it would participate in the program, as well as impose further sanctions on the Russian Federation.
