Ex- Physician Faces Sexual Assault Charges Involving 38 Individuals in His Care

Legal authorities have announced that a ex- physician now faces charges for committing assaults involving 38 individuals who were patients.

The Serious Allegations

The accused, Nathaniel Spencer from Birmingham is accused of numerous acts of sexual assault – some of which involve acts against children younger than 13 – spanning the period from 2017 to 2021.

A senior prosecutor commented, “Legal teams have diligently worked to support a thorough and intricate police inquiry, carefully reviewing the evidence to establish that there is a strong case to bring the case to trial and that it is in the interest of justice.”

The Police Inquiry

The charges come after what investigators described as a “detailed inquiry” into alleged assaults at two hospitals: a hospital in Stoke-on-Trent and Russells Hall hospital.

Spencer is scheduled to appear at the local magistrates' court on 20 January.

Breakdown of Offences

The charging documents said the 45 charges comprise:

  • Fifteen counts of assault.
  • Seventeen counts of penetrative assault.
  • 9 counts of assault on a minor under thirteen.
  • 3 counts of assault of a child under 13 by penetration.
  • 1 count of attempted penetrative assault.
