Far-Right Ex- Legislator José Antonio Kast Elected as Chile's Incoming President.
After a definitive runoff election, ultra-conservative candidate José Antonio Kast has won the top job in Chile.
A Resounding Victory
With more than 99% of ballots counted, Kast garnered 58.17% of the ballots, beating leftist contender Jeannette Jara, who received 41.83%.
This signifies Kast's third attempt at the presidency, having in the past been lost by the current president, Gabriel Boric, in the 2021 second round.
