Followers Demand Custody of Individual Who Seized Ariana Grande
Passionate fans of the pop star are demanding that a person who breached a barrier and grabbed the performer during yesterday's Wicked: For Good launch be taken into custody or deported from Singapore.
A viral video shows the Australian man shoving aside media personnel and charging at Grande while the cast proceeded down a promenade surrounded by fans.
Cast member Cynthia Erivo quickly pulled the shocked performer away from Mr Wen, who was seen being escorted out of the gathering by event staff.
Mr Wen posted on Instagram recently that he was "let go after being taken in", though court documents indicated that he was set to attend court on Friday morning. It is uncertain if he was faced legal action.
Record of Event Invasions
This is part of a pattern for Mr Wen, who calls himself a "Controversial Figure", has invaded a performance. His Instagram profile features clips of him interrupting other celebrity events, including rushing the platform at the pop singer's Sydney performance in June this year and in a similar way during The Chainsmokers performance in the same location last winter.
"Measures must be taken applied against him as this is clearly a criminal offence," stated an Instagram follower, in a message to a video Mr Wen uploaded of his act.
"This appears to be a habit... why are you not imprisoned?" a different Instagram user remarked.
Supporters Voice Worry Over the Star's Past Trauma
Many fans blamed Mr Wen for "re-traumatising" Grande, who had revealed dealing with trauma-related anxiety after a suicide bomb attack at the finale of her 2017 concert in Manchester, resulting in the death of 22 people and harming many.
"The star has endured numerous terrifying experiences... including the Manchester tragedy, and you believed breaching security was amusing?" said one more comment on Instagram.
Some fans also criticised guards at the gathering for not being adequately prepared; while different individuals requested online networks to block Mr Wen's content.
Aftermath and Premiere Information
In footage shared widely, Grande seemed startled when she was approached by the man. Her cast members Michelle Yeoh and Erivo can be observed consoling her while Mr Wen was escorted away by guards.
Grande has not issued a statement on the situation, and the premiere activities proceeded as normal.
Numerous of attendees had gathered in a mass of colorful attire at the Wicked: For Good Asia-Pacific debut in a Singapore shopping center, including several who had waited for as long as many hours before it began.
The motion picture, to be premiered on 21 November, is the second of a dual adaptation of the popular stage musical Wicked, which centers on the unlikely relationship between two contrasting witches.
The production itself is a adaptation of the 1900 story The Wonderful Wizard of Oz.
Grande, who acts as the character Glinda Glinda, was decked out in a champagne pink sequin dress at the event while Erivo, who acts as the villainous character, wore a sleek black dress featuring roses.
They were accompanied by co-star Jeff Goldblum.
The previous installment, Wicked, was the highest-grossing movie of the previous year in the UK, and scored 10 Academy Award nods, securing two for excellent wardrobe and set decoration.
