NFL 2025 season: Week six

Live coverage features live text for Sunday's games via various channels, starting with Denver Broncos v New York Jets at Tottenham (kicking off at 2 PM BST). Also, audio coverage is available on designated networks for another key matchup (beginning at 9 PM BST).

We're in the sixth week of the football calendar , following recent discussion about the Buffalo Bills and Philadelphia Eagles being possible championship contenders, each lost their unbeaten records.

Striking in those games was the number of infractions each committed. The Eagles did so in key moments meaning they kind of beat themselves after leading by two touchdowns going into the final quarter versus Denver, set to play in London this Sunday.

However it was positive to see that Denver quarterback Bo Nix was able to overcome the shortfall and then lead three successful possessions on three possessions during the final period, to win the game 21-17.

The Broncos have the top defender in cornerback Pat Surtain II. They rank first in red zone defence, while the Eagles lead the league in red zone offence, and the Broncos prevailed in that contest.

They had the Eagles' number regarding simulated pressure. They weren't necessarily sending extra defenders instead they might plug two linebackers in the interior before withdrawing them and send a slot defender from the outside.

Early on in the campaign, it was noted on a program that the Broncos could be this season's surprise contenders. They finished last season strongly then did a good job of building upon that.

Are the Denver Broncos this year's underdog story?

New tight end their tight end has excelled big while recent running back JK Dobbins is a player they believe in. He now ranks fifth in the NFL in ground gains (402) and tied for fourth in rushing scores (4).

It's impressive how head coach the Broncos' leader displays "RUSH!" prominently of his playcall sheet.

That shows how Denver are a squad aiming to prioritize the run, since you can do a lot based on that approach. It slows opposing rushes and maintains in positive down and distances.

This has helped quarterback the young passer, who came into the league as a first-round selection last year, throwing 29 touchdown passes – second only to a star QB in rookie records (31 in 2020).

Josh Allen and Herbert have the arm strength to throw all over, however they lack in the same way as Nix. He has exceptional passing ability, which is different, plus he's so athletic.

His strengths include his movement, the capacity to pass on the run, and using different arm angles to deliver the pass when he rolls out of the pocket, on rollouts. He can deliver precision throws over the middle and over the corner.

As a rookie QB, aged 25, he displays great poise in the pocket and is not really fazed by extra rushers. He tries to avoid being tackled as much as possible and can pass under pressure. He possesses sharp intelligence and is very decisive.

When you constantly run the ball it consumes the clock and makes the opponent to stay in play extended periods, and if you have a mobile QB the defense has to defend the field downfield side to side. It can be draining.

Nix has pushed back at Payton on the sideline at times and it seems the coach appreciates that fire, that he's such a competitor. In my view it's fun for the coach to coach a rookie QB that is kind of like moldable clay. He can truly build something up how he wants to build it. I believe it's a special experience for him.

The head coach has won a championship and has passed Bill Parcells for career NFL wins (173, tying for 14th). He's seen everything. I think the success Denver are having offensively is mostly down to his leadership, his play-calling, his situational awareness – and the combination with the QB helps shape him what he is.

There's no better a better guy in your ear, to assist you during some of the tougher situations and boost confidence.

I have faith in Denver's defence, in the QB's grit and calm. Yet is the team good enough to go against a top squad at its best? Since that was not championship-level play from Philadelphia last Sunday.

Right now, it's unlikely Denver are elite. They're performing better than most, which is a good place to be in their division. All they need to do to continue this trajectory.

They excel at leaning into their forte, that is the ground game, and that's exactly what they should do versus the Jets at Tottenham. It will likely be the JK Dobbins show, essentially.

The Jets have surrendered 140 rushing yards each contest (among the worst), five rushing touchdowns this season (10th worst), and they are the only team without a win any game.

Since the league started recording takeaways decades ago, the Jets are the first team to go without any turnovers through five games, which is surprising when you think that the head coach was previously a defensive coach at the Detroit Lions.

Patrick Mahomes says Kansas City have 'already lost too many games' after a recent loss to Jacksonville.

After this Sunday's game, the Broncos have a manageable slate up to their break (in week twelve) - the Giants, the Cowboys, the Texans plus Las Vegas Raiders before the Kansas City Chiefs.

In their division, the Chiefs hold a losing record while Denver are tied with the Los Angeles Chargers at 3-2 so they could challenge at leading the West.

It depends upon which form of the Chiefs they face because Denver {beat|def
