Intensive Russian Strikes Eliminate Power Across Ukraine's Capital

Energy infrastructure targeted in Ukraine
The country's power facilities have come under increased attacks in the past few days

Overnight, Moscow's missile and drone strikes have resulted in blackouts in multiple districts of the capital city, Kyiv.

Several individuals were injured while inhabitants in eastern districts were experienced blackouts and dealt with disruption to drinking water, according to local authorities.

At the same time, a young boy was lost their life in a different aerial attack in the Zaporizhzhia area in the country's south-east, according to area administrators.

Moscow has intensified assaults on energy facilities over the past few days, while Ukrainian leadership has requested "real steps" from international partners to apply pressure on Russia.

"What's needed is not symbolic gestures but strong steps - from the America, European nations and the major economies - in providing protection systems and enforcing penalties," he wrote in a public message.

Authorities reported that 450 drones and more than 30 rockets struck the country's power systems, characterizing such attacks as "strategic and deliberate" and against "essential services" as temperatures become colder.

Energy officials said Russia was "launching a major assault" and repair crews were working to restore power.

A barrage of missiles damaged energy infrastructure and civilian homes in the capital.

Five out of the nine people wounded in the attacks on the capital have been transported for medical care, according to municipal representatives.

Regional authorities said the urban area came under intense attacks during nighttime hours. A young boy died and multiple civilians were wounded.

The assaults come after nights of air raids in the region, portions of which are occupied by invading troops.

The entire country is on alert for sophisticated projectile assaults, which are more difficult to spot.

Government officials told journalists that Moscow was purposely seeking to damage the electrical infrastructure, with assaults already disrupting gas facilities.

Authorities confirmed energy workers and officials were preparing for additional strikes.
