Seamer Atkinson Adds to England's Injury Concerns.

'Serious blow' for the English camp as Atkinson goes off due to a hamstring issue.

The pace bowler added to England's injury problems upon exiting the ground during Saturday's play of the fourth Ashes Test versus the Australians.

The pace bowler felt a problem in his left leg immediately following a delivery in his spell at the MCG.

The touring camp stated the 27-year-old reported "discomfort" and required time off the field for further assessment "over the next few hours".

The series decider of the series in Sydney gets underway at the end of the week.

England have previously lost fast bowlers Mark Wood due to knee trouble and another paceman with an abdominal strain on this Ashes tour.

Matthew Fisher was added to the party as cover for Wood.

His form was underwhelming early in the series, claiming a mere a handful of scalps.

He was left out of the third Test, only to be brought back for the fourth Test to fill the void.

Atkinson performed better in the fourth Test, bagging two scalps in Australia's first innings, and scoring 28 runs with the bat among just a trio of English batsmen who passed ten runs.

Following a brief spell late on the first day, he resumed for the second day's play and removed Scott Boland Scott Boland caught behind.

Unfortunately, at the end of that over, he bowled a slower ball to Travis Head and suddenly grabbed his left hamstring.

Atkinson was recalled for the Melbourne match having missed of the third.
