The 22-year-old tennis player Emma Raducanu concludes the current season and has decided to continue with trainer for 2026.
Raducanu made it to the third stage in three of the four major tournaments during the season.
The British tennis star Emma Raducanu has pulled out of her remaining competitions in 2025 because of the illness that has affected her for the last week and a half.
At 22 years old was due to play in events in Asia but chose to travel back to recover ahead of launching plans for the 2026 season.
These plans will include her coach Francisco Roig, as the pair have decided to continue collaborating in 2026.
She had her blood pressure taken in her opening round with Ann Li in Wuhan and withdrew when trailing 6-1 4-1 on a very muggy occasion.
She again required a visit from the doctor at the recent Ningbo Open, where she fell in a three-set match to Chinese wildcard Zhu Lin in round one.
She was also playing far from freely in the deciding set versus Zhu owing to back discomfort that has troubled her on several occasions in 2025.
These outcomes meant an encouraging season, in which Raducanu rose into the international top 30 for the first time for the first time since 2022, ended with three successive defeats.
The athlete was close to victory with three match points prior to falling to Pegula in the third stage in last month's Beijing event.
Raducanu won twenty-eight matches this year and advanced to the semis in the Washington tournament, but the highlight of her season was at the Miami Open in March.
The British number one made the last eight of a premier WTA event, beating eighth seed Emma Navarro on the way then falling in three sets to fourth-ranked Pegula.
Her coach was Mark Petchey as coach from Miami until Wimbledon, with Roig taking over ahead of the US Open.
The initial agreement with Rafael Nadal's former coach was until the end of the season but they will keep working together, with a training session scheduled late this year.
Raducanu told that her three-day trial with Roig after Wimbledon was like a "secret mission" as they tried to keep the meeting secret.
She came very close to overcoming Sabalenka, the world number one at their initial event as a team in August's Cincinnati tournament.
The coach also accompanied Raducanu in the New York tournament, where she reached the third round before being beaten by Rybakina, champion at Wimbledon in 2022.
