The Two Fatalities Identified in Brown University Incident as Police Persist in Manhunt for Gunman.

Both young individuals who were killed in the recent violent attack at Brown University were being remembered Monday – amid a widespread hunt for their assailant persisted following the discharge by authorities in Rhode Island of the single suspect questioned in the case.

Honoring a Lost Student

The young woman Ella Cook, a second-year scholar from Alabama, was described as “a wonderful, steady, devout, shining presence”, per the Advent Cathedral in Birmingham, which honored her memory at a service on Sunday.

She served as second-in-command of Brown’s division of College Republicans of America, according to the organization. The White House press secretary also posted words of sorrow on social media, saying in part: “Words cannot express. Remembering her loved ones and companions, above all her mom and dad.”

The Second Victim

The other deceased individual was MukhammadAziz Umurzokov from Uzbekistan, a citizen of Uzbekistan in his freshman year at the prestigious university, according to relatives.

His name was verified by the foreign office of Uzbekistan.

“He was exceptionally gentle, witty, and bright. He had big dreams of becoming a neurosurgeon and helping people,” Samira Umurzokova, his sister said in a tribute.

The Shooting Incident

An additional nine individuals were hurt in the weekend shooting in the engineering department of Brown’s university in Providence, during the school’s final exam period.

Law enforcement reported on Sunday evening that a 24-year-man arrested in a raid at a hotel about approximately 17 miles from the university earlier in the day was released from custody.

“There is a killer at large,” declared Rhode Island’s attorney general, Peter Neronha.

He continued, “Occasionally a probe goes down a path, and then you have to regroup and go in another, and that’s exactly what has happened over the last approximately one day.”

Public Fear

Brett Smiley, Brett Smiley, admitted: “We know that this is likely to cause fresh anxiety for our community”.

The shooter opened fire inside a room in the engineering building on Saturday afternoon, firing more than 40 rounds from a handgun, a police source told the news agency.

Officers that entered the hotel recovered two handguns and magazines when the individual was arrested, as was reported.

Those Hurt

Regarding the nine injured, one student was released from the hospital, stated the university president, Christina Paxson. Seven more were in grave but unchanging health, and another was critically ill, officials reported on Sunday.

A private school, a private academy in North Carolina, said a former student, Kendall Turner, was one of the critically injured.

Additional Memorials

Tributes were paid to Cook at a religious service in Birmingham on Sunday. A clergyman said, “She shone as a remarkable, stable, devout beacon not only here growing up... but at Brown she was a radiant presence in that particular place as well.”

The president of College Republicans, Martin Bertao, released remarks from the club. “Ella was known for her bold, brave, and kind heart as she worked for her branch and peers,” he said.

The US ambassador, Jonathan Henick, said he was “deeply saddened” by Umurzokov’s death in a tribute. “We offer our heartfelt sympathies to Mr Umurzokov’s family, companions, and fellow students and lament the passing of his promising future.”
