Ukrainian authorities have declared the commencement of mass production for an innovative locally engineered defensive UAV to enhance its aerial protection systems. Three initial manufacturers have begun manufacturing, with an additional eleven preparing to establish assembly lines, Ukrainian military officials announced on Friday.

'Octopus' Technology Proven in Battlefield Situations

The drones will be based on a domestically developed technology called “Octopus” engineered to neutralize Shahed drones. The system underwent testing in actual battle and demonstrated successful “during nighttime, under jamming and at low altitudes,” officials confirmed. Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy established a target of producing as many as 1,000 defensive drones each day.

Latest Assault on Kyiv Described as Deliberate

Volodymyr Zelenskyy described Russia’s latest attack on Ukraine as “deliberate, premeditated and wicked” after six people were killed and many others injured in a series of night-time strikes throughout Kyiv. Alert systems activated in the capital shortly after 12 AM on Friday, with enemy UAVs soon heard overhead and intensive defensive fire from Ukraine's aerial protection units.

The president stated the country was hit by hundreds of UAVs and multiple missiles. Those killed had been inside their residences in an apartment building on the capital's left bank when it was hit. Numerous of other buildings were damaged, including the diplomatic mission of Azerbaijan.

Diplomatic Objection After Embassy Damage

The Azerbaijani government said it delivered a strong protest to the Russian ambassador this past Friday after the destruction at its diplomatic compound. The blast from a Moscow's missile demolished a section of the embassy’s perimeter wall and resulted in significant destruction to the diplomatic compound, the Azerbaijani foreign ministry stated. Russia plans to manufacture up to 120,000 guided aerial bombs in the current year, a high-ranking Ukrainian defense official said, including 500 of a new, extended-range model that can reach more towns and cities. Moscow's military were firing 200 to 250 glide bombs daily, with last month’s average daily usage being about 170, based on official military statistics.

Kyiv's Strikes Target Russian Energy Infrastructure

Russia’s maritime terminal of Novorossiysk halted for a period crude shipments this past Friday – representing two percent of global supply – after a strike by Ukrainian forces. Military commanders in Kyiv said its forces had fired domestically produced missiles and deployed various types of attack UAVs in the attack on Novorossiysk “within the framework of efforts to diminish the military and economic potential of the Russian aggressor.”

Ukraine separately struck a processing plant in Russia’s Saratov region and an energy depot in the adjacent Engels region overnight.

International Restrictions Impact Moscow's Oil Producer

Russia’s second-largest energy company Lukoil said this past Friday it is negotiating with potential buyers concerning its international holdings following recent sanctions from Western nations and the collapse of an agreement with commodity trader Gunvor. “The specific deal will be announced once the final agreements have been reached and the necessary regulatory approvals have been obtained,” the company stated.

Ukrainian President Schedules Visit to Spain

The Ukrainian leader will visit the city of Madrid, the Spanish capital, next Tuesday to meet with lawmakers a day after his trip to France, Spanish parliamentary officials announced. Zelenskyy will convene with deputies from both chambers of parliament during his visit, an official announcement confirmed.
